The Fee Structure for Architects and Engineers (HOAI) serves as a guideline for many architects and clients as to what services are to be expected and remunerated. It is based on a social understanding of what planning and building is. In view of the current challenges, however, the question arises as to whether the HOAI instrument needs to be rethought and reorientated. This is why the DAZ is organising the HOAI YOU DOING? series of talks on the meaning and purpose of the fee structure: representatives from architectural practice, politics, research and civil society will spend three evenings discussing which parameters the HOAI should correspond to and how these can be better reflected.
