CONFERENCE DEC 23, DEUTSCHES ARCHITEKTUR ZENTRUM DAZ
Concept, Curation, Frame Moderation
Increasing global crises as well as social inequality require a fundamentally new understanding of a solidary coexistence: In the discourse on "Solidarity and the City", this year's Berliner Gespräch aims to follow the transformative forces that call for a new understanding of community and fairer spatial production. A critical examination of current ways of life leads to an examination of social justice and marginalised realities and aims to shed light on the complexity of urban structures and actors. As a result, the aim is to illustrate the power of diversity as a self-image; solidarity as a social bond is examined in two forms: through the unification of resistant forces and through the visualisation of structural disadvantage.
With a focus on public space, actors from the fields of architecture, sociology and urban planning as well as activist and artistic spatial practice will talk about concepts and methods of transformative processes in the city: How can grassroots solidarity networks become an alternative to hegemonic systems? Which methods of solidarity and community-orientated cooperation can strengthen or improve the basic democratic order? What spaces, structures and tools are needed for this?
