ALESA MUSTAR

Slovenian-born and Berlin-based, navigating the realms of curating, urban research, and teaching. Emphasis on social design and critical curating, with a strong belief in subsidiary powers. Research focus centers on crisis geographies.

Holds an Architecture and Urbanism Diploma, along with a master’s in Spatial Sociology. With international work experience in artistic, cultural, and urban contexts, including stints in Argentina and Lebanon, and former Artistic Director of the Deutsches Architektur Zentrum (DAZ) in Berlin, responsible for curating and leading critical explorations of spatial practices.

Teaching engagements at German universities such as UdK Berlin, TH Lübeck, HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd, and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts reflect a commitment to advocating for social interaction, sociocritical thinking, and community well-being in planning and design.

A curatorial, theoretical, and discursive approach is informed by an intersectional lens, emphasizing collectivity, solidarity, and just spatial planning.
